Super Awesome Robot Time

Time To Say Goodbye

(This post would be longer and better, but I just spent 30 minutes writing said 'longer and better' post only to screw it up by clicking the wrong button and erasing the entire damn thing.)

I've decided that 4 years in Vana'diel is enough.  Things like over-crowding in merit-party areas, a craptacularly frustrating crafting system, and missions in general have annoyed me to the point of teeth-grinding anger on multiple occasions.

Don't get me wrong.  The game wasn't a complete waste of 4 years.  I did get satisfaction out of making the friends that I made.  I also enjoyed getting where I did.

I just didn't like getting my face rubbed in the fact that I didn't have things like my brown belt.

I'm tired and I'm not impressed, or have grown bored with recent and upcoming additions to the game.

Annoucements about the new expansion has so far not gotten me excited enough to renew any interest in the game.  Seems like Dancer will be another bard (like corsair has ended up being), and Scholar is just another mage.  I remember when I first started playing and finding the game to be pretty dang exciting.  Exploring areas and trying new things.  Now everything has been tried and I've got to say that it's all been pretty consuming.

I'm going to be selling off my items and giving the gil away to my friends that are on enough to get good use out of it.  Once that's done, I'll be turning off my account.

Compy go bye-bye ; ;

So andon and I are sending out our macbooks today to hopefully get them fixed.  I really hope the problem with ours gets resolved and that the computers come back not-dead.  That would really suck and I do not think apple wants me showing up at their door with a sledgehammer.

Cause I will.  Oh good god will I ever.

I checked the FF11 website today and saw the most intriguing thing.  They are adding even MORE abilities to the Samurai job.  I think this is pretty good.  Samurai is pretty well known for being weapon skill whores with extremely craptacular accuracy, and if Square can do ANYTHING to improve how players see the samurai they really should.  It's really hard for some jobs to get parties because some jobs really dont stand out, including samurai and dragoon.  I hope they add something else to dragoon as well.  Adding something to my job, monk, would probably be overkill.  Monk already has a crap-ton of abilities that make it a pretty nice job to be (a FREAKING HUGE portion of players have monk to high levels, but other jobs such as the aformentioned dragoon and samurai do not approach that level - here's a link to the most recent census), but playing dragoon is alot less fun unless you really really like jumping on things, and people dont really think about the level of hate control veteran dragoons can provide because it is not a huge subject of discussion - everyone is used to using thief's sneak-attack/trick-attack to provide hate control.

Computer time

September 27th, 2006 @ 2:40 pm 0 comments

This morning after my macbook shut itself off for the third time in 30 minutes, Andon (who had also had the problem that morning with his own macbook) decided it was indeed time to take opportunity by the balls and call up the guys at Apple, so he picked up the phone (we now share an office and seeing my macbook decide to be a dick made him take up the cause for the both of us) and got a very nice dude on the phone to help us out.  So tomorrow we should be receiving our packages to ship the laptops out in (apple supplies them & also pays for shipping if the computer is still under warranty or you've purchased an applecare plan) and we hope to get the boxes shipped by lunchtime.

Sadly that means no macbook for an undetermined amount of time, and checking my superawesomerobottime.net email is going to start being a pain in the ass until i get it back.  Thats ok though.

The guy we got connected with at apple said that the restarting problem that these macbooks are having is really not common, and the best reason we are both having the problem is probably because they are both from the same batch of computers (the serial numbers on both machines are very similar, like 2 letters off).

I'm really glad we called them.  I have been really frustrated with the issue this computer that I paid over $1000 out of pocket for (plus financing that i am currently paying off) has been having.  Coupled with the fact that I have had ZERO free time, up to now i have not been able to call tech support about the problem, and that has been the most annoying thing of it all.  It used to be that getting off work at around 5:30 was the norm for me.  Now it's between 6:45 and 7:30 so when I finally get home I am tired as hell and dont want to do anything except veg out, and that is usually what I end up doing unless a friend calls me up wanting to do something sufficiently awesome enough to get me off my ass.

On a completely unrelated note, my friend Sarah says the design of this site is crap.  I do not agree but then again I am only a programmer, and if you have seen ANY websites for any of the programming professors at my old university you would know that programmers do not generally have an eye for what a pretty webpage is.  In fact, my experience from working at a web-design company has evidently not helped me one iota, as everytime I sit down with photoshop we usually end up screaming at each other to make the madness end.

Before superawesomerobottime.net there was The Dark Side Of Boredom, which used pretty much the same color scheme and an awesome acronym down the side of the main navigation buttons (look on the left side and read the first letter of each link:  About, Rant, Stuff, Email and tell me what that spells mwa ha ha)
